Front cover LIIAR Analysis
Rock music magazine :Kerrang!
Language
The font of the masthead looks cracked because it link to the violent stereotype of this genre of magazine. This also links to the sound of a distorted electric guitar playing a power cord, which links to the onomatopoeic meaning of the name of the magazine. The use of the crack also determine how the magazine is old but it has not fizzled out yet. The cracks can also symbioses the typical 'smashing of glass' by music that is too loud, this relates to the genre of this magazine because of the 'rock theme'. The black masthead is also typical to the rock genre as most rock bands associate with it.

Institution

This magazine was founded by Alan Lewis .It is published by Hamburg based Bauer Media Group .This group also publish the magazine 'Q' which appeals to an alternative audience. The first issue was released on 6 June 1981. When it was first released it was released as a one-off supplement in the Sounds newspaper.in the early 2000's this magazine became the best selling British magazine. It was a monthly magazine then it became fortnightly and in 1987 it became a weekly magazine. The original owner of the magazine United Newspapers sold it to EMAP in the year of 1991.

.Ideology
This magazine doesn't conform to typical ideology because it encourages its audience to broaden its musical taste with them using lots of different types of 'rock' including Punk-Rock,Heavy Metal and indie. The slogan of Kerrang is 'life is loud', this slogan represents the 'genre ' of the magazine and how people shouldn't just be quite to fit in. Kerrang magazine also doesn't have a specific age range audience.e.g teenager because it applies to a broad variety of people. The colour scheme of the magazine also defies conformation as it is dark and not brightly colours like most magazines.

Audience And Representation

The target audience for this magazine is 18-25 years old that enjoy listening to the  rock, heavy metal, punk and indie genres. The audience is shown through the main/additional images which are deemed as violent which relates to this genre of music. The use of the band (5 Seconds Of Summer) looking at the audience makes them connect with them as the audience feel as though they are looking at them and connecting with them.the 'typical' outfit for this rock magazine is present, in this issue 5 Seconds Of Summer are wearing black skinny jeans and plaid shirt/sleeveless shirts. The Punk-Rock band have dark clothing on which ties into the  genre of music of this magazine. The band 5 Seconds Of Summer are associated with all time low and all time low are included in their subtitle, this means 5SOS are reaching out to a broader audience by reaching to all time low's fans.
